Delivering flowers in Sharjah

Sharjah is largely residential, and many residents commute to Dubai, so deliveries to homes often land in the evening, and the Sharjah–Dubai roads are slow at rush hour. Sharjah government entities moved to a four-day week in 2022 with Friday, Saturday and Sunday off, so office deliveries stop earlier in the week than in Dubai. Addresses are usually given by area, building name and nearby landmark. In GetFloristPOS, set evening slots for home deliveries, separate zones for Sharjah and for the Dubai side of the border, and keep a landmark and pin field on each order.

The flower trade in Sharjah

Sharjah florists buy from wholesalers supplied through the Dubai Flower Centre and from traders in Sharjah itself, with imported stems from the Netherlands, Kenya, South America and India.

The emirate has a strong family and community character, and many shops are neighborhood florists that also do gift baskets, chocolates and wedding-hall décor. Many are owned and staffed by South Asian and Arab expatriates and serve customers in Arabic, Urdu, Hindi and English.

Because many Sharjah residents work in Dubai, local shops compete with Dubai-based delivery platforms and gifting apps that deliver to Sharjah too. Shops that answer WhatsApp quickly and deliver on time in the evening keep their regulars.
