- February 14
Valentine's Day: one of the heaviest import weeks of the year at the Dubai Flower Centre.
- March 21
Mother's Day, celebrated across the Arab world on 21 March rather than in May.
- Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha (dates follow the lunar calendar)
Eid gifting, family visits and hospitality arrangements.
- Ramadan
Iftar and corporate gifting, with evening deliveries after sunset.
- December 2
UAE National Day (Eid Al Etihad): arrangements in the national colors for offices and events.
- October to April
Wedding and event season in the cooler months, including large Emirati and South Asian weddings.
The local flower trade
Almost all fresh flowers sold in the UAE are imported, mainly from the Netherlands, Kenya, Ecuador, Colombia and India. Many arrive by air through the Dubai Flower Centre, a temperature-controlled perishables hub at Dubai International Airport, and are distributed from there to wholesalers across the emirates.
Shops range from small kiosk florists in malls and residential communities to large design studios doing weddings, hotel lobbies and corporate gifting. Owners are Emirati, Arab expatriate, South Asian, Filipino and European, so the same shop may serve customers in three or four languages.
Online delivery apps and large gifting platforms are strong competitors, and WhatsApp is often the main sales channel for independents. Shops that keep their own customer list and occasion dates can sell direct instead of paying platform commission.
Delivery here
Same-day delivery is expected in the main cities, and much of it is ordered on WhatsApp. Addresses are often given as a building name, a community and a nearby landmark rather than a street number. Dubai buildings carry a Makani number and Abu Dhabi uses its own Onwani address system, which helps when a customer can share it. Many recipients prefer delivery in the late afternoon or evening, and during Ramadan evening slots after iftar fill fast. In GetFloristPOS, add a landmark and location-pin field to each order, define zones by community with fees, and give each slot a capacity.

What florists tell us
Sample These are illustrative sample reviews, written to show the kind of feedback we design for. Real reviews replace them once shops are live.
“Half our orders still arrive on WhatsApp. Now they go straight into the order book with the slot and the card message, and the invoice shows VAT the way our accountant wants.”
“We log what goes in the bin as waste, not as a mystery. After a month we bought fewer of the stems that never sold past day four.”
“The week before Valentine's we stopped promising 'sometime Saturday'. Each slot fills up, closes itself, and the van sheet for the 10 to 12 run prints in street order.”
“Shaadi season used to be a notebook of advances. Each mehndi and barat booking now shows what was paid, what's due, and when. Customers get an Urdu receipt.”
