Square is a polished, low-cost general POS with its own card processing, and its free plan is hard to beat for a simple cash-and-carry shop in the US. GetFloristPOS is built around the work florists do: delivery slots, a wire order queue, stem recipes, perishable lots and event deposits. If most of your sales are delivered, made to order or booked months ahead, or you trade in the UAE or Pakistan, GetFloristPOS fits better.

Switching from Square for Retail

Moving from Square is mostly a catalogue and customer export. Export your items and customers from the Square dashboard as CSV files, and our onboarding team imports them for you at no cost. Keep Square running until your first week on GetFloristPOS is done, then switch the counter over. If you use Square for card payments, you can keep a processor you are happy with, because GetFloristPOS works with your processor. Plan the move for a quiet week, not the fortnight before Valentine's Day or Mother's Day.

FAQ

Is Square good for florists?

Square is a good general POS and fine for simple counter sales. It does not have a wire order queue, stem recipes or florist delivery slots built in, which is where most flower shops feel the gap.

Is GetFloristPOS more expensive than Square?

Square has a free plan, so for a counter-only shop it can be cheaper. Compare plan for plan on our pricing page, and count what you pay in other tools and paper workarounds for deliveries and events.

Can I keep my card reader?

GetFloristPOS works with your processor. Square's readers work with Square's processing, so if you move processors you may need a different reader; we will check your setup on a demo.

Can I import my Square items and customers?

Yes. Export them as CSV files from Square and our onboarding team imports them at no cost.

Does Square work in Dubai or Pakistan?

Square for Retail is not sold in the UAE or Pakistan as of our check. GetFloristPOS is, with local pricing and support.

Does GetFloristPOS take a fee on each sale?

No. There is no per-order commission. Card fees are between you and your processor.

Can I run both while I switch?

Yes. Many shops run both for a week, then move the counter once staff are comfortable.

Which one handles wedding deposits better?

Square can request a deposit through an invoice. GetFloristPOS keeps the deposit, balance and due date on the event order itself, with reminders.

Run both for a week if you like. The trial is free for 14 days, and moving your data is free.
