If your catalogue lives in a spreadsheet or another point of sale, you can bring it into GetFloristPOS with one CSV file instead of typing each product. You fill in the import template, upload it, fix any rows it rejects, and your products, sizes and prices appear in Products and on your online store. Plan on about 30 minutes for 100 products.
Before you start
- Your shop location is set up in Settings → Business locations.
- A list of your products with names, prices and, ideally, SKUs or barcodes.
- Decide your units, such as stem, bunch and box, and your categories, such as Bouquets, Sympathy, Plants and Add-ons.
- A spreadsheet program that can save a file as CSV (UTF-8 if your names use Arabic or Urdu).
Steps
-
Download the import template. Go to Products → Import products and download the template file. Keep its column headings exactly as they are; the import reads them by position and name.
-
Set up units and categories first. Open Products → Units and add stem, bunch and box (or whatever you buy and sell in). Then add your categories in Products → Categories. The import matches these by name, so they must exist before you upload.
-
Fill in one row per product. Enter the name, unit, category, SKU, selling price and tax for each product. Leave the SKU blank to let the system create one. Mark stems and bunches you count in the cooler as “manage stock”; services like a delivery fee or a design consultation do not need it.
-
Add sizes as variations. For a bouquet sold as standard, deluxe and premium, set the product type to variable and list the sizes and their prices in the variation columns. Each size gets its own price and SKU but stays one product on the store.
-
Save the file as CSV. Use Save as → CSV. If any names are in Arabic or Urdu, choose CSV UTF-8 so the script survives. Close the file before uploading.
-
Upload the file and review errors. Back in Products → Import products, choose the file and submit. If rows fail, the screen lists the row number and the reason, such as an unknown unit or a duplicate SKU. Fix those rows in the spreadsheet and upload again.
-
Spot-check the imported products. Open Products → List products, filter by category, and open three or four items to check prices, sizes and tax. Add photos to your best sellers first; they lead the online store.
Common problems
“Unit not found” or “Category not found”
The name in the file does not match what is in the system, often because of a plural (“Stems” versus “Stem”) or an extra space. Make them identical.
Arabic or Urdu names show as question marks
The file was saved in the wrong encoding. Save again as CSV UTF-8 and re-upload the affected rows.
Prices are off by the tax amount
In the UAE, prices are normally entered VAT-inclusive. Check the selling-price column matches how your tax is set for the location.
Duplicate SKU
Each SKU must be unique. Change the SKU on the second row, or leave it blank to auto-generate.
